Shompole Lodge is situated on the side of the Nguruman escarpment, overlooking the stunning expanse of the Great Rift Valley. Shompole Lodge is the result of a partnership between a private safari group and the Maasai of Shampole Group Ranch.
Shompole is situated on a 14,200-hectare – 35.088 acres private conservancy and wildlife abounds in the surrounding area, with leopards, flamingoes, elephants, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra often sighted. There are early morning walks, river trips, mountain-bike rides, night drives and romantic fly camps to get even closer to the wildlife. Shampole is a 30-minute chartered flight, or a 120 km drive, from Nairobi. The lodge was closed in September 2011 while the owners discussed its future and that of the conservancy with the local Maasai community.
